The town of Lekeitio has always been linked to the sea. Its old quarter reflects this past, in which fishing and craftmanship played an essential role.
The narrow cobbled streets are full of big houses, towers and convents; and in the lively port, we can still see ships unloading fresh fish or women mending nets.Everything is an invitation to relax, for Lekeitio will soon join the network of slow cities (CITTÁ SLOW): walking along the port and the beach, watching the sunset or the waves breaking in the winter. The cultural agenda offers events as varied as fairs, street theatre, films, exhibitions, fiestas and traditions. In short, Lekeitio is an excellent place to mingle with the locals and immerse ourselves in the feelings brought by the sea winds.
... Diego Rivera, the Mexican painter and husband of Frida Kahlo, lived in Lekeitio for a while, and painted several pictures of this town?
