Walking through its narrow cobbled streets, we come across the Salazar Towe, which dates back to the end of the 15th century. The permanent exhibition here includes the Privilege of Confirmation, awarded in 1432 by Juan II, King of Castile and Lord of Byscay, who literally transcribed the Foundation Charter.
The Basilica of Santa Maria has a magnificent Renaissance altarpiece and houses a small Museum of Sacred Art.
The Suspension Bridge, a World Heritage Site, represents one of the greatest engineering achievements of the late 19th century, being the first suspension transporter bridge in the world. Combining architecture and functionality, it is both beautiful and useful.
"Rialia" Industrial Museum, an open space for culture, art, history and the future, which portrays Biscay's industrial past.
... The Town of Portugalete was founded in 1.322 by a woman, Mrs Mª Díaz de Haro, Lady of Biscay?
